Bright and nearby areas have always been affected by bushfires.
 
The most significant occured in:
 
Ocfoberr 1899
Februiary and April 1900
October 1901
March and May 1926
March 1930
January 1932
December 1938/January 1939 - Black Friday
February and March 1965 (1200 acres south of Bright)
January 1978 Mt Tawonga - fire was 14 km long
November 1982 - in plantations, near Two Mile Creek area - 100 acres
