Overview
Rese
arch of Sands and McDougall's Post Office Directories, held on microfiche at Stonnington Council, Toorak Rd, yielded information on the names of listed occupiers of the first houses to be built in the strip between View St/Black St and Elgar Rd. The author's home is in this strip!

Notes:

1. Dates may not be accurate, as many entries in the PO Directory are known to be up to two years later than the actual dates

2. House numbers in Mont Albert Rd eastwards from Union Rd were changed in 1927. Houses built before then are denoted by the new numbers.

3. It appears that numbers in the new sequence were allotted only to existing houses. House numbers were not shown in the Post Office Directory prior to about 1915.

4. Several property occupiers are indicated as "unknown", due to the non-availability of data in the Post Office Directories for some years

5. Many houses have been demolished and replaced with units.

6. The properties on the north side from 403 to 425 are protected, being within the Black's Estate Heritage area
