The End of our Journey

And so we come to the end of our jouney, which has spanned some 70 years.

The author hopes that visitors to this Project will have gained an appreciation and understanding of how this magnificient Reservoir was planned, designed, and built.

The Reservoir is only 90 minutes from Melbourne's eastern suburbs, and is a destination you would not want to miss!

Comments would be welcome, and entries into the Guestbook would be appreciated!

First Visit

The author's first visit to the Reservoir was in 1959, some 18 months after its commissiomning.

This was in his first car - a 1948 Ford Anglia Tourer - with his Mum, Dad and younger brother.

The photo, taken by Mum,  shows us on the road into the Reservoir.

Subsequent Years

It was 50 years later that the author again visited the Reservoir, in 2007. At that time, the walking tracks had been established, and his first hike to the Doctor's Flat Lookout was made.

In subsequent years, other visits were made,  each of which yielded new discoveries and panoramas.

The Park has now been upgraded with new facilities for visitors, a camping area, the Tribute Trees Project and several car parks, and Lookouts.
