Closure

In late 1953, it was announced that the Park was to be closed.

The property was located on land which was to become the new suburb of Balwyn, and despite community opposition, the Park and the adjacent violet farm finally closed in March 1954.

This was known as the Balwyn Wildlife Park Estate and was subdivided into 62 housing blocks. A section of the land on its western edge, escaped subdivision and would become Greythorn Park in 1961.
