NEW STORAGE RESERVOIR AT MITCHAM
In August, 1921, the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works let a
contract for £77,690 for the construction of a large storage reservoir at
Mitcham. This work is well advanced, and should be completed In April 1923. The
reservoir is to provide an increased water supply in hot weather for the rapidly
growing eastern and south-eastern suburbs, pending the completion of the
O'shannassy Reservoir. The Mitcham Reservoir will have a capacity of 43 1/2
million gallons, and is 510ft above sea level. The photograph (above) shows concreting

FIRE BRIGADES BOARD VISITS RINGWOOD. Members
of the Fire Brigades Board visited Ringwood yesterday to inspect water
supply facilities for fire-fight-ing in view of thr proposal to
establish a brigade at Croydon, Mitcham, or Ringwood, east of Box Hill,
which is now on the boundary of the metropolitan brigade area. Inset
against a photograph of the new reservoir of the Board of Works at
Mitcham from left to right are:—The chief fire brigades officer (Mr. H.
B. Lee); the mayor of Ringwood (Councillor A. T. Miles) greeting the
