pre-1840s  Aboringinal tribes inhabited the region

1840s First pas
toral run commenced

1860 First market gardens established by Chinese people from the goldfields

1869 Logging operations established - sleepers and timber cut and sent to nearby Flinders for transport by sea to Melbourne and other places

1869 Cable station opened at Flinders

1870s Township appeared

1880 Commercial fishing well established

1881 Post Office opened

1920 Pines planted on foreshore

1921 Beach had become popular for day visitors

1920s Jetty constructed - Shoreham emerged as a port

1925 YMCA Camp Buxton for boys commenced - operated until the 1970s

1940s Jetty dismantled
