Since the beginning of the world, I have always had a keen interest in travelling.
On all of my trips, I take along a small sensitive communications radio, to study propagation
conditions in the places visited.
I also met with radio monitoring enthusiasts, where possible, and visited radio stations!
My first overseas trip was in 1964, which was a combined ocean cruise and land tour, on the
Greek liner "Ellinis",.
With a mate, we sailed from Melbourne to Sydney, then across the Tasman to Auckland, then
all the way north up the Coral Sea to Port Moresby.
We said goodbye to the Ellinis, and then it was a bumpy flight in a DC3 to Lae.
Our return to Melbourne was via Port Moresby and Sydney (on one of the first 727s!)
Since then, I have explored a lot of the world, and my favourite destinations have been the
Pacific Islands, Europe, and the steamy jungles of South East Asia!
You can read about my trips to overseas locations which were associated with radio club meetings
elsewhere in this Journey,
Below are a few pix from my albums!
