This is the Home Page of the Maroondah Reservoir Pictorial Heritage 1862-2011 editorial research project.

I am Bob Padula, OAM, a communications’ engineer from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Victoria, Australia - this Project is made available free of charge to any interested persons, anywhere in the world.

The Project is essentially an assemblage of images from many sources, and accompanying text, describing the history, development and evolution of the popular scenic  Maroondah Reservoir, 65 km east of Melbourne, near the town of Healesville.

I have included comprehensive additional information, maps, and imaging, which include the history of Healesville, the famous Yarra Track, Blacks’ Spur, the Reservoir Park, Walking Tracks, Railway proposals, the historical ghost-town of Fernshaw, and the Maroondah Catchment area.

I have always maintained a strong and continuing interest in this beautiful forest region. This started back in 1957 on my first visit to Healesville, and in the succeeding decades I have been back on innumerable occasions, concentrating on enjoying hiking and photography in the many public trails in and adjacent to the catchment area.

There is no charge for viewing this Project but as I incur hosting expenses, you might consider making a small financial donation via PayPal to assist me with these costs, which will keep the site free of commercial advertising.

There is a vast amount of information in this site, so it will take you a little while to travel through it and look at its many features and images.

So, please come back soon, or, better still, visit the Reservoir and experience first-hand this wonderful place!

Links in the Navigation Bar at the left of each page will take you to your chosen destination.
