Lyrebirds of Olinda Forest (65 km). Start/finish at Falls Rd and Mathias Track junction. Follow: Mathias Track > Predator Track > Bartlett Track > Falls Rd . Then along Mathias Track for 1 km and return. Lyrebirds may be seen on Mathias Track. Predator Track once was the entry to a former farm, in the 1940s, not signposted, and links Bartlett Track with Mathias Track.(4 km, easy, April 2008)

VW Track (65 km). This interesting track is not signposted, and is missing from Melways. It is shown in ParksVic notes. It is a 2 km (return) walking track linking the Olinda Creek Rd with gated Barge's Rd. Start/finish at junction of Olinda Creek Rd and Barber's Rd. The track is not visible from the road, and starts adjacent to the Dandeong Ranges National Park sign. It is VERY steep and STONY, and passes through pleasant forest, used for logging up to 1968. It weaves its way through some unusual rocky outcrops. Views at the top are obscured by tall timber. It has been closed off by the authorities for revegetation. The origin of the name "VW" is not known! (2 km, 1 hr, Augut 2008)

George's Rd Loop Track. (35 km E). This is a relatively unknown walking track. It is the remnants of an early logging track, linking the Olinda Creek Rd and the gated Georges Road. Start/finish at the junction of George's Rd and Olinda Creek Rd.The start of the track is obscured, and is found just off Olinda Creek Rd opposite the Road 13 gate. It passes through an interesting forest, unique to the region. It joins the wide George's Rd - then return to the start at Olinda Creek Rd. Part way along the track will be found a small metal engraved plaque attached to a tree, placed there in 1996, in memory of a walker, Greg Kelly, who lost his life there whilst hiking. The track is not shown in any current map, and neither is it signposted; it is to be closed off by the authorities for revegetation. (2 km, 45 mins, June 2006)

Olinda Falls Circuit (40 km). A pleasant walk which takes in the Upper and Lower Falls and a brief exploration of the forest along Doughty's Rd. Start/finish at the Falls Picnic Ground, off Falls Rd. (2 km,  45 mins, Feb 2009)

Poplars Track Circuit (65km). Start/finish at Woolrich Lookout car park, Chalet Rd. Follow Dam Rd (behind the barbecue area), after 500 m, turn right into a non-signposted track which links to Poplar Track, then along Poplar Track. After 500 m, follow a foot-track to Mathias Track. Ascend the grassy hill back in the Arboretum back to the car park. This walk can be done in the reverse direction, but the foot-track from Mathias Track is hard to find in summer, even though signposted, due to encroaching vegetation. Good views across the Yarra Valley and forests. The poplar plantations in winter are very mysterious! (Easy, 2 km, June 2006)

Poplars Track in Spring (65 km). This is a variation of the Poplar Track Circuit walk. Access: Chalet Rd, then Silvan Rd, to small car park at junction of gated Mathias Rd. Follow footrack down hill past the seat, meeting Poplar Track. Proceed left, locating  an overgrown narrow track on the left, climb this track until Mathias Rd is reached. Cross Mathias Rd and continue uphill through wildflowers and continue through stands of birch trees to the gate, at the starting point. Excellent views across the Arboretum. Bobcat Track Circuit (65 km E). This is actually two walks, done on separate days, and centred on the very steep Bobcat Track, which links the Bartlett and Hermon's Tracks.

Walk 1: Start at Eagle Nest Picnic Ground (off Silvan Rd) > Hermon's Track > George's Rd > Bobcat Track (steep) > turn around at junction with Bartlett Track and return the same way. (5 km, 1.5 hrs, June 2006)

Walk 2: Start at junction of Olinda Creek Rd and George's Rd > George's Rd > Bobcat Track junction > return the same way (3 km, 1 hr, June 2006)

Stonyford Creek Nature Trail - Silvan Reservoir. (50 km E). Canterbury Rd, Swansea Rd, York Rd, Silvan Rd, Stonyford Rd, to picnic ground at Reservoir. Follow signed track along Stonyford Track Nature Trail, explore the Park surroundings. Track passes through distinctive Messmate forest. (3 km, Feb 2009, 1 hr).

Mechanic's Track. (50 km E). Mt. Dandenong Tourist Rd, to small car park signed "Mechanic's Reserve" opposite Mt Dandenong Arboretum. Descend steep foot-track,  following the Olinda Creek, crossing Farndon's Rd and Falls Rd, reaching Olinda Falls. Continue to the Falls observation platform, return to car.. Lush forest , Falls, and fern gullies. (4 km, 1.5 hrs, September 2008). Caution: This track can be very muddy and slippery after heavy rain!

Cascade Track. (50 km E). Mt. Dandenong Tourist Rd, Falls Rd, to small car park at Dorey's Bridge. Follow Cascade Track downhill to Barber's Rd and return. Lush green fern gullies beside Olinda Creek. Caution: This track can be very muddy and slippery after heavy rain!  (3 km, 1 hr, January 2007)

Piranda Gardens Walk. (50 km E). Burwood Highway, Belgrave, Monbulk Rd, Perrins Creek Rd, Hacketts Rd, to car park opposite Gardens entrance. Follow main walking track, past beautiful fern gullies and a creek, and return. (2 km, 1 hr, January 2006)

Gingpo Circuit Walk. (40 km E). Lilydale-Monbulk Rd, Stonyford Rd, Silvan Rd, Boundary Rd, to Valley Picnic Ground. Ascend signed steep Yalambee Way, turn into Gingpo Track, descend to Simmonds Avenue, continue to Boundary Rd, return to picnic ground. Track passes through the Forest Arboretum, lush fern gullies, tall forest. (3 km, 1 hr, March 2006).

Lookout Rock Circuit Walk. (40 km E). Olinda-Monbulk Rd, Chalet Rd, Silvan Rd, to small car park at gated Matthias Track. Chamberlain Track Circuit Walk. (40 km E). Lilydale-Monbulk Rd, Stonyford Rd, Silvan Rd, Eagles Nest picnic ground. Follow gated Eagles Nest Rd, turn left into Chamerlain Track, ascend steeply to junction with Prices and Bulldog Tracks, follow Prices Track to Silvan Rd, turn left into Eagles Nest Rd, return to picnic ground. Good forest, fern gullies, along mainly fire access tracks. (3 km, 1 hr, May 2006).

Track 15 Circuit Walk. (40 km E). Lilydale-Monbulk Rd, Stonyford Rd, Silvan Rd, to junction with gated Track 15. Ascend steeply up Track 15, turn right into Board Track, turn right at Track 16, descent to Silvan Rd, retjurn to start. Nice forest environment along fire access tracks, colorful toadstools prevalent in May-June period! (2 km, May 2006,  1 hr).

Bartlett Track - Western Section. (40 km E). Montrose, Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd, Falls Rd,  to small car park at junction with gated Bartlett Tk. Follow Bartlett Tk, turn into the long Barges Rd, follow this road for about 1 km then return to start. Forest envirnment,fern gulllies. (3 km, 1 hr, May 2006).

Bartlett Track - Central Section. (40 km E). Montrose, Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd, Falls Rd,  to small car park at junction with gated Bartlett Tk. Follow Bartlett Tk, to junction with Bobcat Link Tk and return to start. Good forest, toadstools in winter months! (3 km, 1 hr, May 2006)

Rifle Range Gully Track. (40 km E).  Lilydale-Monbulk Rd, Stonyford Rd, Silvan Rd, Boundary Rd, to Valley Picnic Ground. Cross large open space to north, reaching Rifle Range Gully Tk. Ascend this steep track to junction with Bartlett Rd, return to start. Note: This track is classified as Grade 4, according to the Australian Standard for Walking Tracks. There are steep sections and tk maintenance is minimal, with fallen trees to negotiate and encroaching vegitation. Ferns, forest environment, lyrebirds, wallabies, wombats! (3 km, December 2007, 1 hr).

Bulldog Avenue Circuit Track. (40 km E). Lilydale-Monbulk Rd, Stonyford Rd, Silvan Rd, Boundary Rd, to small car park at gated Price's Tk. Proceed on Pricc'e Tk, steep Bulldog Tk, to Silvan Rd. Return along Silvan Rd to car park.  Nice forest, ferns, toadstools (in autumn!). (2 km, 1 hr, March 2006)

Hermon's Track. (40 km E). Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd, Olinda-Monbulk Rd, Woolrich rd, Chalet Rd, Silvan Rd, Eagle Nest Rd, to small car park at Eagle Nest Picnic Ground. Follow Hermon's Track  to junction with Rifle Range Gully Track, then along George's Track to car park. This walk goes through the Lyrebird Creek Valley, excellent tall timber and past fern gullies.
