1960 - Richard's Mill (LRRSA)

Richard's "Brimbonga" Sawmilling Company

This mill was sited at the junction of Big Pat's Creek and present-day Riverside Drive, East Warburton, and operated from 1945 until 1973. There were several changes in ownership during those years

The East Warburton Seasoning Works, 1915 to 1973, was adjacent to the  mill.

The seasoning works was a large facility, comprising stacking areas, stacking sheds, charcoal retorts, a kiln, sidings, and staff housing.

Seasoned timber was transported via the steel Warburton Steam Railway to the La La sidings.

Timber was delivered to the works until 1932 from the Mississippi and Enterprise mills in the Big Pat's Creek gully, and from the nearby Richard's Mill.

Track infrasructure around the works site was recovered and sold in 1980.

The land is now private property.

The align
ment of the Warburton Steam Railway is clearly visible, marked by a row of trees, running alongside the eastern edge of Big Pat's Creek Rd, from Riverside Drive.
